Died without issue, one year after gaining French crown on 986 death of his father Lothair.
At this point, succession rights for King of France should have reverted to his father's brother Charles (Duke of Lorraine). But this did not happen due to intervention by Hugh Capet. Thus ended the Carolignian line of kings.
Louis married Blanca, daughter of William Duke of Acquitaine and Unknown.
