Heir to the throne of France usurped by Hugh Capet. He was exiled to Germany.
According to the text The Peerage of Ireland, by John Lodge, this Charles is the father of Wigerius who fathered Baldric the Teuton and Wiger - both of whom went from Germany to Normandy to serve under Richard II.
Problem is, though we don't have dates, estimate based on Charles Duke of Lorraine's age would put this Charles' birth at about 989 (maybe as early as 970 if first wife). We have placed the birth of Baldrick's father Wigerius at around 952 (possibly as early as 942) so we seem to be a generation apart.
Other, separately determined, links show a Charles as 2nd son of Charles III the Simple, and a brother to Louis IV - thus uncle to Charles of Lorraine. It is this Charles that may have fathered Wigerius (Wigeliius).
