He was a close associate with Richard de Courcy and wed his daughter to Richard's son. Together they battled Robert de Belesme (and in part Robert Curthouse - Duke of Normandy) in the Seige of Courci-sur-Dives in 1091.

Hugh married Adeliza De Beaumont. (Adeliza De Beaumont was born in 1034 and died in 1091.)
