Bodegisel II (Baudgise) Governor of Aquitaine
- Born: 552, Old Saxony, Germany
- Marriage: Oda De Savoy
- Died: 588, Carthage, near Tunis, Africa at age 36
General Notes:
Oda's husband, the father of Arnolph, Bishop of Metz, is called Bodegisel II. Same person is called Arnoldus of Saxony. Is this the same name? Preceding generations also don't match. Prob. Governor of Aquitaine; murdered returning from an Embassy to Constantinople. Some authors say Bodgeisel I, brother of Gondolfus, is the father of Bodegisel II. There is no proof, one way or the other, but the weight of evidence points to Gondolfus. Bodegeisel II appears to have been Governor of Aquitaine and was murdered at Carthage returning from an embassy at Constantinople in 588. [Roderick W. Stuart, Royalty for Commoners, 3rd ed., Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore MD, 1998.
Bodegisel married Oda De Savoy. (Oda De Savoy was born about 552.)
